count, 2005
computer generated voice, pastels, steel, and dynamic speaker
With each passing day, the body count from the Iraq war grows. As of December 2005 over two thousand one hundred coalition troops have died in the war. The American lives lost in the conflict are well documented, publicized in the media and on the minds of most American citizens. This is in sharp contrast to Iraqi lives lost which include military forces, security forces, insurgents, and civilians. It is estimated that over 30,000 Iraqi civilians alone have died in the conflict.
count examines the lives lost in the Iraq war. A feminine computer-generated voice emanates from a yellow flower growing from a grave. The voice cites dates then gives a cumulative body count of coalition forces. Behind the flower, a drawing shows more yellow flowers vanishing into the distance that represent fallen coalition soldiers, while a sea of red flowers in the distance represent fallen Iraqi civilians.
